Nativity Figurine by Polo Neves

The artist was born in Cucujães, Oliveira de Azeméis, in 1959. He attended the Painting Course of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto and, from 1978 to 1981, lived and worked with various artists in several European countries. He began exhibiting individually in 1980 and collectively in 1985, with a vast number of exhibitions in his career. Paulo Neves has received several awards, including the Águas do Minho e Lima Prize, at the XIII Bienal de Cerveira, and the First Prize in the competition “Elementos Escultóricos e Baixos-Relevos para a Revitalização da Zona Histórica de Viseu”, promoted by the City Hall, in 1999. His work is represented in Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Romania, Morocco, Angola and Mozambique.
